Co-washing - Part 1
WHAT IS CO-WASHING?
This is new for me too, but believe me, it works! I was first introduced to something called Cleansing Conditioner by Clarissa, The Hair Routine's founder. I have to admit, I initially doubted it but after testing it I was pleasantly surprised.
WHAT DOES A CONDITIONER DO?
Conditioner Washing, or co-washing, is a technique of washing the hair in a more gentle way by using conditioner as if it was shampoo. The conditioner is the hair product that is me most gentle. This way, the hair strands are not striped as they would when using shampoo and the nutrients in the strands are preserved.
The magic of it is that it's an all-in-one formula that cleanses, hydrates, and conditions the hair in one step. It eliminates the need for the rubbing and stripping that cause hair damage. Just make sure you find a conditioner that does not contain silicones, waxes, or petrol derivatives.
Ingredients to absolutely avoid when choosing a conditioner for co-washing:
- Mineral Oil
- Paraffinum Liquidum
- Cetearyl Methicone
- Cetyl Dimethicone
- Phenyl Trimethicone
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE BALANCING CONDITIONER WORKS PERFECTLY FOR THIS TECHNIQUE.
However, if you are not ready to start co-washing or you would like to alternate, this Balancing Shampoo does not contain sulfates.
